What is the Fisherman’s Mark Hurricane Ida Relief Grant?

Fisherman’s Mark Hurricane Ida Relief Grant is a need-based program available to existing Fisherman’s Mark clients. Approximately $150,000 in funds will provide relief to our clients and their families who suffered property damage, lost housing, or are behind in utility payments as a result of the hurricane. Awards will range from $500-$10,000 and may include replacement of property, utility payments, and/or rental assistance for up to 12 months. Am I eligible to apply?
If you are an existing client and have suffered property damage, lost housing or are behind on utility payments as a result of the hurricane, you are eligible to apply. If you are not an existing client but receive government assistance, you may qualify to become a client. Contact Fisherman’s Mark for more information on filling out a client intake form.

What can be funded?

If you have been displaced from your home, rental assistance may be made available. If you lost your vehicle, a replacement automobile may be purchased. If you lost items, such as furniture, appliance, clothing, etc., replacement items may be purchased. When will applications be available?
Applications, in both English and Spanish, will be made available on November 2nd on the Fisherman’s Mark website as well as printed copies at the food pantry.

How can I submit my application?

Applications should be filled out and submitted to the Fisherman’s Mark administrative offices or food pantry by close of business (5pm) on November 15th.

In what order will applications be reviewed?

Each individual application will be reviewed and evaluated after November 15th.

What documentation will I be asked to provide?

Documents to prove identity, residence, and need may be requested.

How quickly will I receive funding?

For rental assistance, funding will be paid directly to landlords starting November 1st. For utility bills, payments will be made directly to utility companies. For replacement of lost or damaged items, payment will be made directly to stores providing those items. Arrangements for the purchase of these items will take place throughout November and December.

Is this a loan that I will have to pay back?

No. This is a grant intended to help you meet your basic needs. You will not need to pay it back.

When will I know if I am approved to receive an award?

Fisherman’s Mark staff will contact you by November 15th.

What is the maximum amount of rental assistance I can receive?

We will cover up to $1000/month for 12 months.

Who does the rental assistance payment go to?

We will pay rent directly to landlords.

Can I receive additional assistance for more than one area?

Yes. This request should be made on the application.
