Ricardo Zapata

Ricardo’s responsibilities include overseeing all pantry operations, managing the volunteer program, and outreach to clients.

Ricardo holds a B.A. in Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Cali, Colombia, the country of his birth. He is certified as both a court appointed special advocate for children and a United Way volunteer. He has worked with several nonprofits in Central and South America, has experience in corporate training, and a deep knowledge of Latin culture.

“At first, you see yourself in the role of helper, someone who is there for those that need help. Over time, after talking with so many clients from all walks of life, you begin to realize that there is very little that separates us from them. With a bit of bad luck, a few misguided choices, or because of a lack of opportunity, we could just as easily be on the other end of the line asking for help.”

Ricardo enjoys volunteering on the North Hunterdon Recreational program as a U-12 soccer coach in his free time.
